Referrers and the NKI Center for Early Diagnostics

The NKI Center for Early Diagnostics is an initiative of the Netherlands Cancer Institute. The Center combines innovation and research to provide rapid clarity on risk factors or signals that may indicate cancer. Early detection and diagnosis of cancer provides us with more treatment options that are often less invasive and costly. As a general practitioner or specialist, you can determine who to refer to our Center based on the referral criteria via Zorgdomein. We handle the examinations and diagnoses at our Center. Further treatment, if required, will be provided at a specialized hospital.

Early diagnostics and scientific research

Our health care professionals focus on diagnostics of people who may be at increased risk of developing cancer, based on hereditary and familial predisposition, or other reasons. These people may not experience symptoms. People experiencing symptoms suggestive of cancer, or those who need further examinations (such as those whose population screening results indicate further testing is needed), can also come to the Center. Additionally, we contribute to scientific research and the accumulation of essential knowledge of early tumor detection on a national and international scale.
