Breast cancer diagnostics
At the NKI Center for Early Diagnostics, we conduct breast cancer diagnostics after a referral by a general practitioner or clinical geneticist. The reasons for these breast cancer examination can vary between the following three.

Referral due to symptoms
You were referred because you are experiencing symptoms that may indicate breast cancer.
Referral after population screening
You were referred because of the results of the breast cancer population screening program.
Referral due to increased risk of breast cancer
You were referred because you are at an increased risk of developing breast cancer.
Suspected increased risk?
Do you expect that you have a higher risk of developing breast cancer but has this not been examined by a clinical geneticist yet? Please consult your general physician first. They can determine whether you need to be referred to a clinical geneticist. A clinical geneticist can assess your risk of developing breast cancer based on your family history and DNA test results, and provide recommendations for breast screenings.
