Center for Early Diagnostics
5 important reasons

The Center for Early Diagnostics is an initiative of the Netherlands Cancer Institute. Our Center employs a combination of innovation and research to provide quick answers regarding risk factors or signs that may indicate the presence of cancer. Early detection and diagnostics of tumors provide patients with more treatment options.
Why the NKI Center for Early Diagnostics?
1. Expertise and innovation
Being part of the Netherlands Cancer Institute and having extensive knowledge on cancer is immensely valuable for our Center and our clients. It provides us with the right expertise, experience, and specialists. Alongside our examinations and cancer diagnostics, we can contribute to scientific research. This allows us to expand our understanding of tumors, potential risk factors—who has a higher risk of cancer and why—and diagnostics. We utilize the latest equipment available. We are the only specialized center for early diagnostics in the Netherlands.
2. Quick and clever
Our Center has no waiting lists, and we can usually schedule appointments on short notice. We aim to provide examinations and results on the same day whenever possible. We work quickly and cleverly, often providing people with answers on the same day.
3. Approachable and personal
We are a diagnostic center and we see clients, not patients. We focus on medical examinations with high-quality equipment. The atmosphere is friendly and service-oriented, and our small-scale location doesn’t have the typical appearance of a clinic. We have developed an app to keep a close connection to our clients.
4. Diagnostics and research
We combine answering an individual client’s question—do I have cancer or not?—with general research questions. Who has an increased risk of developing cancer and why? And how can we examine these individuals most effectively? We share the knowledge we acquire with the scientific community, healthcare field, government, and the public. A cure for every cancer is what we strive towards.
5. Collaboration
We cannot and will not do this alone, so we closely collaborate with other (health care) partners in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and abroad. Through our national and international partnerships, we are stronger in our fight against cancer, in early detection, in increasing our understanding of risk factors and preventive measures and healthy lifestyles.
